Peter Aresti

By Paolo Prandini | ottobre 21, 2010

Oggi il blog intervista il magico Peter Aresti, conosciuto fino a qualche anno fa con lo stage name di Peter Arcade, esponente dell’italo disco nato in Connecticut, New England.

1. What is for you “italo-disco”?

Italo disco is more than a music style; it’s a dream, a message of love, a soundtrack of life for many people. Music is a universal language, and the melodies of Italo have been talking for years to everyone; actually to the new generations, that weren’t even born in the 80s. As the feelings it expresses, Italo Disco is ageless and immortal.

2. Do you think that there is a “father” for italo-disco?

No; i’d say that Italo-disco is the result of the teamwork of many artists, producers and sentimental persons all together; everyone putting a piece of the puzzle… though someone thinks that “Fade to grey” is the first official italo song ever.

3. Who is your favourite singer?

No one, though, i used to appreciate several characters on the scene, the way they performed and their look, and, of course, several songs also.

4. Your most famous song I guess that’s “Rainfall Memories ”, do you think that’s your best song?

Well, i really don’t know if “Rainfall” is the most famous one, for sure it is an unforgotten hit; “We were”, though” and “Sun will shine” are very famous in Finland and Mexico, for example, and i continiously meet persons from all around the world that know the most of my songs. Actually, “Italo Disco”s success seems to be growing day after day.

5. I travel quite often in East Europe and Russia and there italo-disco is still popular! I listen quite often to the radio Savage, Tom Hooker, you and others. What do you think about?

I think it’s wonderful, sensational, and it shows how much what i said before is true: Italo is timeless and universal… it’s funny to say, but sometimes, when i see so many persons coming from anywhere and exposing an italian flag on their shirts, jackets or else, it’s seems a sort of new musical roman empire, with citizens from every country united under a unique symbol of melody, love and friendship… of course, no kind of political or military considerations. :-) Seriously, this is a sign that this world is not so bad, if there still are so many “dreamers” and “believers” still amazed by a flower that springs, a children that smiles, the rising and dawning sun on the sea; still so in love with someone and with the ideal of love itself.
